A 2nd Cup: Subscription Overview by Houston Brand Photographer Lightbulb League

Some brand photography projects feel extra special, and our time with A 2nd Cup was exactly that. As the only nonprofit coffee shop in Houston dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking, their mission is just as incredible as their coffee.

Getting to partner with a business that not only serves up delicious drinks but also works tirelessly to create real change in the community? That’s exactly the kind of project we love.

Capturing Their Space, Team, and Mission

Throughout our brand photo subscription with A 2nd Cup, we had the opportunity to capture every part of their story- from the people who make it all happen to the inviting atmosphere of their space. The beauty of a brand photo subscription is that each photo session focused on something different. Here’s how A 2nd Cup split some of their sessions up:

  • Their team- The hardworking, passionate people behind the counter and in the community.

  • Seasonal and exclusive offerings- products and menu offerings marketed to sell during the holidays, change of seasons, or limited time offers.

  • The coffee shop itself- A warm, welcoming space where customers not only enjoy their drinks but also learn about the fight against human trafficking.

  • Products- A 2nd Cup sells fair trade products created by survivors of human trafficking, and also by local small businesses.

  • And of course, their menu- From beautifully crafted lattes to a full brunch and lunch menu, we showcased their offerings in a way that felt authentic and inviting.

Why This Project Stood Out

Beyond the photography itself, what made this project so meaningful was the heart behind A 2nd Cup. Every visit reinforced the impact of their work, and we loved seeing how much thought and care went into everything they do- from sourcing coffee ethically to using their space for education and advocacy.

It was also inspiring to see how passionate their team is, not just about coffee but about creating opportunities for survivors to rebuild their lives. That kind of dedication is something we were honored to capture through our images.

A 2nd Cup is the kind of business that makes you feel good about where you spend your money. We loved every shoot, every latte, and every conversation we had there. Being able to tell their story through photography was an absolute privilege. If you haven’t been, consider this your sign to stop by for a coffee, and to support an incredible mission while you’re at it.
