Our Specialty: Posing You Without Feeling Posey

Let’s be real: most people do not love being in front of the camera. And for good reason—posing can feel stiff, awkward, or just plain not like you. But here is the good news: great brand portraits are not about striking the perfect pose. They are about capturing who you are, in a way that feels honest and approachable.

We hear it all the time: “I just want to look like myself.” “I don’t want anything too stiff.” “I’d like the posing to be more… candid. Lifestyle vibes.” And we totally get that. So much of our process is about creating an environment that allows you to do exactly that—show up fully, comfortably, and naturally.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to help you feel confident and un-posed during your brand session:

1. Keep moving
Movement is your best friend. Whether it’s walking slowly toward the camera, adjusting your sleeves, running your hand through your hair, or shifting your weight—these micro-movements help avoid stiffness. We’ll often guide you through gentle motions to keep things flowing.

2. Use your hands
One of the most common questions we get is: “What do I do with my hands?” The answer depends on the vibe we’re going for, but we usually suggest interacting with something—your product, your workspace, your pocket, or even a coffee mug. Hands give energy and purpose to a photo.

3. Take a deep breath and laugh a little
No really—exhale. We like to keep things light and conversational during shoots so the photos feel like real moments, not formal portraits. We’ll chat, joke, and create some breathing room so you’re not thinking about the camera every second.

4. Trust your photographer (that’s us)
You do not need to know what to do. That’s our job. We’ll direct you when needed, make micro-adjustments, and keep an eye on angles and lighting so you can just focus on showing up.

Because the best brand portraits are never about looking perfect. They’re about looking like you.
