Love Letter to Studio Half Moon

Usually when we start a blog post highlighting client work, it’s something along the lines of:

“When it comes to creatively elevating an event, few people bring the level of talent and vision that Rachel of Studio Half Moon does.”

Which is so true. But I mean it with my whole chest. Our client base is made up largely of other creatives, so we do not say this lightly: Rachel is easily one of the most creative people we know. She works across so many mediums (paper goods, packaging, tableware, signage, labels, invitations, to name a few) and she brings the same care and imaginative spirit to each project. Nothing she creates ever feels templated or expected. Her work is not just custom, it is fully one-of-a-kind, designed to reflect the essence of the event and the people behind it.

She is the rare kind of artist whose work is instantly recognizable; not just because of the beauty of her execution, but because of the unmistakable originality behind every detail. Her business focuses on custom brand artistry for events, which is a fancy way of saying: if it can be designed, drawn, hand-lettered, or painted, Rachel can make it unforgettable.

Over the years, we have had the immense pleasure of photographing several of Rachel’s wedding invitation suites, and each one has been a total showstopper. From textured, hand-torn papers to expressive brushwork and carefully considered color palettes, every suite feels like a tiny gallery. You can see her background in painting and drawing come through in the way she composes even the smallest elements. They feel intentional, layered, and deeply artistic; because they are.

A personal favorite memory: back in our first studio, we asked Rachel to design a few chalkboard pieces for our space. I gave her just the loosest direction and she brought them to life with charm, whimsy, and warmth. I still miss those pieces a year after a studio move; her art has that kind of staying power. I’ve mentioned to her that we need another Rachel original in the new space, we’ve just yet to make it happen. Maybe soon ;) Here are a few photos of Rachel creating + the chalkboard art:

If you ever get the chance to work with Studio Half Moon, you are in for something truly special. Rachel’s work brings beauty, soul, and personality to everything it touches.
